Experimental investigation of optical properties of BaF2 monocrystals and ceramics doped by CeF3 in different concentrations have been performed in view of a possible use of crystals as new scintillation sensors in PET. Transmittance, light yield, emission spectra were recorded by means of spectrophotometer and X-ray tube excitation of samples provided 1 ns accuracy in timing measurements.
