We report our recent development to model quadratic and cubic ultra-broadband nonlinear dynamics in photonic devices, by means of a nonlinear single-envelope equation. We present the case of generation of tunable visible light from large band conversion, in a quadratic crystal, of the infrared continuum from standard photonic crystal fibers. Moreover, we show the study of a visible supercontinuum generation, initiated by second-harmonic generation, in a quadratic poled germanium-doped microstructured fiber. (C) 2012 Elsevier Inc.
