Five new prenylated diphenyl ethers (1-5), five known ones (6-10), and three xanthones (11-13), together with three anthraquinone derivatives (14-16), were obtained from the mantis-associated fungus Aspergillus versicolor GH-2. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic methods. The (2 '' S) absolute configuration of 1 was assigned by using the modified Mosher ester method. The known compounds 9 and 12 exhibited antibacterial activity against the clinical strain Streptococcus pyogenes with the MIC values of 2.5 and 5.0 mu g/mL, respectively. (C) 2015 Elsevier Ltd.
