We report herein the mechanically induced luminescent color change of a molecule with two anthracene moieties and a rhodamine 6G unit at both sides of a branched amidoamine spacer. Different emission properties of this compound are due to the pi-pi overlap of anthracene moieties and the ring-opening reaction of rhodamine 6G. (C) 2014 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
