This study proposes a novel fast magnetic kicker system: the bridged-T network lumped kicker. The rise time is comparable with that of a transmission line kicker, while the input impedance can be matched with the characteristic impedance of the pulse power supply. A lumped magnet core and matching elements form the bridged-T network, so that the complex structure associated with a transmission line magnet is no longer required. The proposed scheme is compared with several conventional schemes. A demonstration of the proposed scheme is also performed and the results are as anticipated. (C) 2009 Elsevier B.V.
