The reaction of nickel acetate tetrahydrate with Schiff base 2-[(pyridin-2-ylmethylimino)methyl] phenol (HL) in a methanol-water solution, adding NaN(3) as a bridging ligand, yielded the complex [Ni(L)(mu(1,1)-N(3))H(2)O](6)center dot H(2)O. An X-ray structure determination showed that the complex is nearly a perfect hexagonal structure, and temperature (2-300 K) dependent magnetic susceptibility measurements indicated that it possesses ferromagnetic behavior.
