The extraction of fetal electrocardiogram (FECG) from the composite maternal ECG signal is discussed. This problem can be modelled from the perspective of blind source extraction. An important and primary work is done by Barros and Cichocki, who propose an FECG extraction method for the noisy-free mixing model. However, it is realistic to extract the FECG from noisy measurements. Therefore, we propose a new algorithm for the FECG extraction with additive noise. Theoretical analysis and simulation results confirm the validity of the proposed algorithm. (C) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
