A new species, Leucoagaricus tangerinus sp. nov., is described from southern China, based on morphological and molecular characters. It is characterized by its light orange to brownish orange fibrillose squamules on the fragile pileus, a whitish stipe with colourless drops, ellipsoid basidiospores and narrowly clavate to subfusiform or subutriform cheilocystidia. Phylogenetic relationships among the new species and its closely related species were inferred based on the nucleotide sequences of the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region.
