A novel multislot patch antenna operating from 3.55.9 GHz is proposed for a two element multiple input multiple output (MIMO) system. The developed system resonates at the tri-band of frequencies 2 GHz, 4.2 GHz, and 5.5 GHz, giving an impedance bandwidth of 51% at 10 dB return loss and a reduced mutual coupling less than -50 dB. The enhancement of the bandwidth and the reduction of the mutual coupling are achieved using the reduced ground plane and unique symmetric slot structure. The proposed MIMO system can be used for high speed wireless computer local area networks and WiMAX applications. The measured results are found in good agreement with the simulation results.
