A new class of band-pass frequency selective surface (FSS) with nonresonant constituting elements and sub-wavelength unit-cell dimensions and periodicities is presented and experimentally demonstrated. Using this technique, low profile first- and second-order FSSs with reduced sensitivity to the angle of incidence for both TE and TM polarizations are designed, a prototype is fabricated and the FSS measurement results are presented and discussed.
