Laser ablation-ICP-MS was used to evaluate the element migration (Al, Ba, La, Sr) in healthy and dental treated human teeth (enamel, dentin). Results were evaluated with use Ca-43 as an internal standard element for element distribution in teeth. For quantification analysis matrix matched laboratory standards were used to establish calibration curves, whereas the obtained regression coefficient was 0.999 for Al, La and 0.998 for Ba, Sr. The analytical data obtained using the calibration procedure with the matrix-matched in house standards were validated using NIST SRM 1400 bone ash reference material. As a result of the analysis, the following measurement precision values: 4.2% for Al, 2.7% for Ba, 2.1% for La and 2.8% for Sr were obtained. The obtained results of the measurements showed given elements migrated from fillings placed into dental cavities to healthy part of teeth. (C) 2013 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
