This review is part of the PetroHRA project that aims at adapting human reliability analysis to the petroleum industry. The different elements that make up complexity are reviewed through a thematic analysis which identified 83 complexity elements that were categorized into 13 complexity categories. Six of these were found to be relevant and were included in the Task Complexity performance shaping factor which is presented in this paper. The description of Task Complexity includes levels and multipliers. (C) 2015 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
