Despite their prominent microbicidal roles, NADPH oxidases (NOXs) have been recently found to regulate a wide variety of physiological activities. Through generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), NOXs actively participate in cellular activities, including NET formation, inflammasome activation and wound sensing.
