Mg - Al - Ca alloys positioned in the Mg - Al(2) Ca quasi-binary section are studied. It is shown that alloys of this system bearing the Al(2) Ca compound as a hardening phase can be used for developing structural alloys with elevated strength at 170A degrees C and that the strength characteristics of the Mg - Al - Ca alloys can be improved by adding manganese.
