An efficient, practical, and eco-friendly method of preparation of 9-chloro-6,13-dihydro-7-phenyl-5H-indolo[3,2-c]-acridines (3a-c) is reported by Friedlander condensation of 2-amino-5-chlorobenzophenone 1 and active methylene compound 3,4-dihydro-2H-carbazol-1(9H)-ones (2a-c) in the presence of SnO2 nanoparticles under microwave irradiation. Indoloacridines, 3a-c, were screened for their in vitro hemolytic activity, on human erythrocytes and cytotoxicity, on HeLa and Vero cells.
