Prevention is an ongoing process that requires a team approach including educators, physical therapists, physicians, podiatrists, nurses, pedorthists, and prothetists. Screening, risk stratification, education, regular foot care, and protective shoes and insoles are the mainstay of the prevention process. Diabetic foot prevention can prevent reulceration in high-risk patients by 50%.
