Alkali metal molybdates have been demonstrated as promising anode materials for lithium-ion batteries due to high specific capacity. In this study, Li2MoO4@C has been prepared by oxalic acid-assisted sol-gel method followed by carbon coating. Thermogravimetric analysis, X-ray diffraction, scan electron microscopy and transmission electron microscope were employed to characterize its composition, structure and morphology. Electrochemical measurements show that the porous Li2MoO4@C composite displays excellent electrochemical performances. The initial lithiation and delithiation specific capacity was 983 mAh g(-1) and 653 mAh g(-1) at current density of 100 mA g(-1), respectively. The electrode delivers 504 mAh g(-1) delithiation capacities even though undergoing 150 cycles test. (C) 2018 Elsevier B. V. All rights reserved.
