In line with recycling and valuating the spend materials, we developed,in this work, a facile and innovative synthetic route to prepare NiO nanoparticles from spent Ni-Cd batteries, the nickel of which was obtained by H2SO4 leaching. Then, using Na2CO3 addition into the purified Ni-aqueous solution, the NiO nano-particles' precursor was obtained. Eventually, the NiO nanoparticles were synthesized by thermal decomposition of the precursor at 450 degrees C. In turn, the synthesized materials were characterized by means of XRD, TEM, thermogravimetric analysis-differential scanning calorimeter (TGA-DSC) and infrared spectrum (IR) techniques.
