Antimicrobial composites from poly(vinyl alcohol) and bacterial cellulose containing potassium sorbate as antimicrobial agent were obtained by film casting method. The obtained films were tested against Escherichia coli and showed a good antimicrobial activity. (C) 2011 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
