Magnetite-polyoxometalate hybrid nanomaterials, Fe3O4/SiO2/Salen/Mn/IL/HPW (MNPs-HPW), was prepared by grafting of H3PW12O40 on the ionic liquid-functionalized Fe3O4 magnetite nanoparticles. This catalyst is a recoverable catalyst for the one-pot synthesis of cyclic carbonate derivatives in high to excellent yield under solvent-free conditions. The MNPs-HPW catalyst was characterized via Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, thermal gravimetric analysis, transmission electron microscopy, and a vibrating sample magnetometer. Moreover, the catalyst could be easily recovered by magnetic separation and recycled for ten times without significant loss of its catalytic activity.
