MnO2/reduced graphene oxide(RGO) composites were synthesized by a facile and effective polymer-assisted chemical reduction method The synthetic MnO2/RGO composites have a uniform surface distribution and large coverage of MnO2 nanoparticles onto graphene which were characterized with scanning electron microscopy high resolution transmission electron microscopy X-ray diffraction and cyclic voltammetry The synthetic MnO2/RGO composites were studied with respect to its electrocatalytic activity toward the reduction of oxygen in alkaline media and were found to possess a good electrocatalytic activity toward the four-electron reduction of oxygen (C) 2010 Elsevier B V All rights reserved
