Rose-like zinc oxide nanoflowers Were Successfully synthesized on SiC substrate via a simple chemical vapor deposition method. The Crystal structure, chemical composition and morphologies of final products were characterized using X-ray powder diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The products deposited on different zones of the substrate show different morphologies such as micro-plates, micro-palmerworms. and self-assembled nanosheets. The room-temperature photoluminescence spectrum of the rose-like nanoflowers reveals a strong green emission at similar to 491 nm corresponding to defect-related emission. (C) 2008 Elsevier B.V.
