Micro mesopores flowerlike gamma-Al2O3 nano-architectures were synthesized by a thermal decomposition method using synthesized AlOOH (boehmite) as a precursor. After calcination at 500 degrees C for 5 h, the obtained flower-like gamma-Al2O3 had a structure similar to that of the AlOOH precursor. X-Ray diffraction (XRD), FTIR, TG, FESEM and TEM techniques were used to characterize morphology and structure of the synthesized samples. The specific surface area (BET), pore volume and pore-size distribution of the products were determined by N-2 adsorption-desorption measurements. The flower-like gamma-Al2O3 showed a high BET specific surface area of 148 m(2) g(-1) with a total pore volume of 0.59 cm(3) g(-1).
