After two decades since the discovery of the high-T-c copper oxides, we have been gifted a new option for finding higher T-c superconductors. The new high-T-c iron-based compounds apparently belong to an entirely different class of materials from the 'old' cuprates. Nevertheless, several similarities between the two emerge from the experimental results at this early stage, which will be helpful for better understanding of the high-T-c superconductivity.
