SBA-Pr-NH2 was found to be a suitable and efficient catalyst for the condensation of acenaphthenequinone, malononitrile/ethylcyanoacetate, and alpha-methylencarbonyl compounds via a simple, facile, efficient and three-component procedure. The corresponding product was found to have a surprising antimicrobial activity.
