AlCl3 center dot 6H(2)O was explored as an efficient catalyst for the synthesis of gem-dihydroperoxides (DHPs) from ketones and aldehydes. The reactions took place within a short period of time using (30%) aqueous H2O2 as a green oxidant in acetonitrile under neutral conditions at room temperature to afford the products in high yields.
