In this paper, large-scale Eu2O3 microwires with great length were successfully fabricated by a simple and facile electrodeposition and a subsequent heat-treatment. The morphology and structure of the as-deposited and the annealing microwires were studied in detail by SEM, EDS, XPS and TEM, and the results indicate that the as-deposited Eu(OH)(3) microwires are amorphous, and Eu2O3 microwires after annealing are polycrystalline with body center cubic structure. Moreover, the magnetic properties of Eu2O3 microwires were also investigated. The Eu2O3 sample shows a non-typical magnetism which might result from oxygen vacancies confirmed by XPS.
