The methyl coumarins reacted with N-bromo-succinimide gave compounds (a similar to c) which on further reacted with various peracetyl sulfhydryl glycose (1 similar to 3) afforded a series of novel coumarin thioglycopyranoside compounds (1a similar to 1c, 2a similar to 2c, 3a similar to 3c). And when used ultrasonic irradiation, this method offered several advantages such as good yields and short reaction time than the silent reaction. All the new compounds were characterized on the basis of the IR, H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR and elemental analysis.
