We have established that a cationic rhodium(I)/(R,R)-QuinoxP(star) complex catalyzes the highly enantioselective direct intermolecular hydroacylation of a-substituted acrylamides with unfunctionalized aliphatic aldehydes to yield the corresponding gamma-ketoamides in high yields with excellent ee values.
