Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) was synthesized by solid state polymerization and was employed as counter electrode in dye-sensitized solar cell. Our results show that poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) demonstrates comparable performance compared with traditional Pt electrode in dye-sensitized solar cell when it serves as counter electrode, indicating solid state polymerization is a facile approach to prepare poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) counter electrode in dye-sensitized solar cell.
