Measurement of absolute frequencies and hyperfine structure constants of 4D5/2 and 4D3/2 levels of 87Rb and 85Rb using an optical frequency comb

We report the absolute frequency values of all (ten) hyperfine transitions of 5P(3/2) - 4D(5/2) and 5P(3/2) - 4D(3/2) for Rb-87 and Rb-85 atoms via the use of an optical frequency comb by measuring the frequency of a laser diode stabilized onto the line centers of the double-resonance optical pumping spectra. Here we report on the absolute frequencies for the two transitions [Rb-85, 5P(3/2)(F' = 4) - 4D(5/2) (F '' = 3,4)]. Furthermore, the frequency uncertainties are reduced significantly for the other transitions. Moreover, the magnetic dipole and the electric quadrupole hyperfine structure constants of 4D(5/2) for Rb-87 and Rb-85 are determined by using the measured values of the absolute frequency.
