The results of the preparation and investigation of a new class of materials for middle IR fiber lasers on the basis of chalcogenide glasses with microcrystal phases of ZnS(ZnSe):Cr(2+) are discussed. Optical properties of these systems demonstrate the possibility of the creation of active fiber near to wavelength of 2 mu m. (C) 2013 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
