Significant uncertainties have been reported in the material properties of carbon nanotubes. In this paper, a probabilistic approach to take account of these uncertainties is proposed. The probability density function of the natural frequencies is derived in closed-form. The new results are compared with high-fidelity stochastic finite element simulations. (C) 2008 Elsevier B.V.
