A new monomeric heteropolymolybdoarsenate (H2NCNH2NH2)(8)(H3O)(2)[Mn-2((AsMo9O33)-Mo-V)(2)]center dot 9H(2)O (1), has been synthesized in aqueous solution and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, thermal gravimetric analysis, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. I resembles sandwich-type complexes and involves the coordination of two transition metals to two [(AsMo9O33)-Mo-V](7-) fragments, which derive from the B-beta-Keggin structure. The magnetic properties of I have been studied by measuring its magnetic susceptibility in the temperature range 2.0-300.0 K, indicating the existence of antiferromagnetic interactions.
