5-(4-Methoxyphenyl)-3h-1,2-dithiole-3-thione (Anetholi trithionum abbreviation ATT) as a novel and high-efficiency corrosion inhibitor was investigated for Cu in 0.5 mol L-1 H2SO4 in diverse temperatures using electrochemical methods, scanning electron microscope, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and atomic force microscope. Moreover, quantum chemical calculation and molecular dynamics simulation further reveal the adsorption mechanism of An and copper from a microscopic perspective. Polarization curves indicate that ATT is a cathode-type inhibitor at different temperatures. The topography maps of atomic force microscopy and scanning electron microscopy are consistent with the electrochemical results at different temperatures. Furthermore, ATT adsorbed on the surface of copper conformed to the Langmuir Isotherm. (C) 2018 Published by Elsevier B.V.
