A series of porous carbons (PCs) with adjustable high surface areas and narrow micropore size distributions have been prepared by KOH activation of fungi-based carbon sources. The resulting PCs demonstrate both high CO2 uptake (5.5 mmol g(-1)) and high CO2/N-2 selectivity (27.3) at 273 K and 1 bar, implying their great potential as CO2 capture sorbents.
