A nanoflaky MnO2-graphene sheet (GS) hybrid material was mixed with a new binder, sodium alginate, and investigated as a cathode for lithium ion batteries. The MnO2 growing on the GS afforded an unprecedented high capacity of similar to 230 mA h g(-1) at a large current density of 200 mA g(-1), even after more than 150 cycles.
