Nanocrystalline hematite (alpha-Fe2O3) film was prepared on FTO using pulse reverse electrodeposition with hierarchical nano-petal structures (similar to 30 to 35 nm) that appear to protrude out from the agglomerated network. Photocurrent density of nano-petal morphology measured at E = 1.23 V vs. RHE in 1 M NaOH under 1 sun illumination was remarkably increased by 180% relative to that of Fe2O3 film produced by normal electrodeposition.
