Ethylenediamine-reduced graphene oxide (ED-RGO) sheets were prepared by simple refluxing of graphene oxide (GO) solution with ethylenediamine (ED), which effectively reduced toxic Cr(VI) to less toxic Cr(III) by an indirect reduction mechanism with the assistance of pi electrons on the carbocyclic six-membered ring of ED-RGO.
