A symmetrical 3D chrysanthemum-like WO3 center dot 0.33H(2)O hierarchitecture has been prepared via a facile hydrothermal approach. A growth mechanism has been proposed for the hierarchitecture. With preferable electrochemical properties, WO3 center dot 0.33H(2)O displays potential application in lithium ion batteries.
