Imidazolide monolayers prepared from the reaction of amino SAMs with N, N-carbonyldiimidazole (CDI) are used as a versatile platform for surface patterning with amino-, carboxyl- and alcohol-containing compounds through reactive microcontact printing (mu CP). To demonstrate the surface reactivity of imidazolide monolayers direct and reverse fluorescent patterns have been prepared.
