Because of technological advances in medical care, proportions of adults and elderly people increase dramatically in every country. The need for care at the end of life has also increased. The purpose of this review was to compare hospice care in the United States and in Thailand. The two countries differ completely in their healthcare systems and their geographic, political, and socioeconomic status. The development of and problems and gaps in hospice care in these two countries were analyzed and presented in this article.
