2-Substituted-2,3-dihydro-4(1H)-quinazolinones were synthesized in high to excellent yields through direct cyclocondensation of 2-anthranilamide with aldehydes or ketones in the presence of a recyclable cerous methanesulfonate by grinding technique under aqueous conditions.
