Discussed is the co-propagations of two orthogonally polarized optical beams, a Gaussian beam and a spiraling elliptic beam, in nonlocal nonlinear media. We show that the Gaussian beam can induce a waveguide with the circular symmetry, in which the spiraling elliptic solitons can be formed and can propagate stably, with no special requirement of the optical power for the spiraling elliptic beam. Even though the power is smaller than the critical power for the spiraling elliptic soliton, the insufficient optical power can be supplied by the orthogonally polarized Gaussian beam. It provides a way to observe the spiraling elliptic solitons in experiment. (C) 2015 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
