A hydro-distilled essential oil obtained from dried roots of Ferula latisecta, was analyzed by GC-MS. Fourteen components, representing 73.3 % of the oil, were identified, of which sec-butyl-(Z)-propenyl disulfide (50.5 %), sesquicineol-2-one (7.2 %), sec-butyl-(E)-propenyl disulfide (6.2 %) and delta-cadinene (2.9 %) were major components. Polysulfides accounted for the most abundant group in the oil (60.8 %). Eleven unidentified compounds made up 26.7% of the oil were also present.
