The essential oil isolated by hydro distillation from aerial parts of Kelussia odoratissima was found to be a pale yellow liquid and was obtained in yield of 3.2 % (w/w) based on dry weight. The oil was analyzed by GC and GC-MS. Twenty-three compounds were identified, of which the major components were found to be Z-ligustilid (87.6 %), E-ligustilide (3.2 %), piperitone epoxide (3.1 %) and pentyl butanoate (1.7 %). The other constituents more than 0.5 % were: 2-methyl-1-octene-3-yne (0.6 %), (Z)-3-butylidene phthalid (0.6 %) and kessane (0.5 %). We can use of K. odoratissima as a potential source of Z-ligustilid.
