The surface modification of Ni-base alloys with low Al-contents (between 2 and 5 wt.%) with fluorine leads to the formation of a protective alumina scale under high temperature service conditions. The combined implantation of fluorine and reactive elements (Y,Hf) can increase the adherence of this alumina scale needed for technical applications. (C) 2015 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
