Microcrystals of a new Pb(II) coordination polymer, [Pb-2(1,3,5-HBTC)(2)(H2O)(4)]center dot H2O (1) (1,3,5-H3BTC = 1,3,5-benzentricarboxylic acid), was synthesized by a sonochemical method. The structure was characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray powder diffraction, elemental analyses, and IR spectroscopy. Thermal stability was studied by thermal gravimetric and differential thermal analyses. After the calcination of nanosized 1 at 400 degrees C, pure phase nanosized Pb(II) oxide has been produced.
