In this review, we present basic properties and applications of various gigahertz nanotube oscillators based on interwall sliding. These nano-oscillators are dynamically stable and their oscillation frequency can be significantly higher than one gigahertz. We briefly review the dynamics properties of various nanotube oscillators, by means of classical moleuclar dynamics simulations, from double-walled, triple-walled, and multi-walled carbon nanotube oscillators, and single-walled carbon nanotube bundle ocillators to boron-nitride nanotube oscillators and metal nanowire encapsulating carbon nanotube oscillators.
