A novel two dimensional (2D) copper(II) polymer [Cu-3(N-3)(6)(DMF)(2)] (n) (1) has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, X-ray single crystal diffraction and magnetic susceptibility measurements. Complex 1 was formed by a [Cu-3(N-3)(6)(DMF)(2)] trimeric unit through two double symmetric end-on (EO) azide bridges which further constructed 2-D network through asymmetric EO and end-end azide bridges. The magnetic study shows that the compound 1 exhibits ferromagnetic interactions through symmetric EO azide bridges and antiferromagnetic interactions via asymmetric EO azide bridges.
